DEFINITION: In Russian antiquity, house floors which had a layer of clay covering a base of horizontal logs and often hardened by fire. They are characteristic of the Cucuteni-Tripolye culture and also occur in the Gumelnita, Petresti, and Vinca cultures extending into southeastern Europe in the Late Neolithic.
